\u201cThe Vanderbilt Transplant app is a significant addition for our referring providers to access the transplant center,\u201d said Edward Zavala, administrator of Vanderbilt University Medical Center\u2019s multi-organ adult and pediatric transplant center.

According to VUMC, the app offers providers improved access in the referring process for both adult and pediatric referrals through mobile-friendly referral forms using Vanderbilt\u2019s REDCap, a free, easy-to-use and secure method of data collection. Further, the app provides contact information for on-call VUMC transplant physicians, a direct link to the Vanderbilt Transfer Center for urgent transfers of patients, as well as access to outcome data.

\u201cAdditionally, the patient education component of the app provides patients ready access to transplant-specific education,\u201d adds Zavala.

Specifically, patients can tailor what organ they are interested in learning more about (heart, kidney, lung, liver and pancreas), meet the transplant team, and find provider locations. In the living donor section of the app, Vanderbilt provides education links to patients and their families, as well as a referral link for those considering being a donor.
